Local Guide - It means something to me

When my mom visited me in college, which mind you wasn’t frequent, the airplane ticket can cost up to $2000, not something my family can afford on a regular basis, so when she came up to visit - it was important to me that I made the most of her experience. I put the time and effort in to curating a list of restaurants and places for us to go to and visit. If anyone out there has ever tried to compile a list like this from scratch, you must be aware it takes some effort, and if it’s something that you are trying to conjure without the work beforehand, it can seem extremely daunting. However, as a local guide, and with the habit of going to places and sorting them and reviewing them, and saving the ones that stand out for a re-visit, I was able to tap into that database to create a comprehensive list that I knew I could trust because they were essentially my own recommendations.

It is important to me that when I indulge in a nice meal or a drink that that drink hit just the right spot, and that bowl of noodle soup cures the aches of my soul. Because, as someone who doesn’t do it all that much, I have found more and more that quality really does, and excuse this term, trump quantity. It means a great deal to me to be able to share those experiences with others, and we are all constantly in this modern era, acting as curators, what Google Guide lets us do is to retain that information and make it not just shareable but traceable. If we are forming opinions, and trying new things, and being adventurous eaters, and travelers why not capitalize on it so our loved ones can benefit and enjoy without having to worry about whether their experience will match their expectations. And, if along the way Google Guide makes you look like a cool, well traveled person with good taste - why not?
