Local Guide means a lot to me especially when I look back to the time when I went to UK for studies. I was totally lost in Manchester city and had it not been Google maps and helpful local Guides there for my rescue, I would have taken a lot more time to get used to the beautiful city. Local Guides programme literally helped me everyday be it my study time in UK or be it my four beautiful years in County Kerry the most beautiful county of Ireland.
Through my involvement in Local Guide programme, I’ve seen those places which were actually hidden gems and only fewer people knew about them. As I love to go around in my free time to discover and see new places, I give lift to random people, talk to them and in this way I make a lot of new friends. I would love to mention two of my German friends, Michael and Neele who were hitch hiking Ireland when we met and now we are very good friends. I would love to visit them sometimes and explore Germany as a local guide.
Being part of Local Guide actually helped me out in rising above our prejudices against people who are from different backgrounds. It actually transformed me in a positive way and I even started teaching English to refugees in Ireland. Tralee International Resource Centre actually provided me with opportunity to help people learning English language as well as understanding Irish society where they were supposed to settle in. Since I have moved back to Pakistan, I really miss that multicultural life and being a very productive person over there. Now when I get time I try to add new places on maps(since I live in countryside there are great number of places which are not on maps) and meet new people and try to be productive in my free time and Google is always there to make it possible for me. Thank you very much.
