I love being the Local Guide and feel such a satisfaction every single time I update even the tiniest detail on the google maps (such as change of the one way system etc). As local guides we can help others in so many ways, by keeping the maps up to date we help other residents and visitors, the same with keeping an eye out at local businesses and noticing if any of them changed the name, been permanently closed or simply updated their activity and now is trading in a different marketplace than before. I have great passion for travelling and apart from loving knowing my region as much as possible I also like going world wide. The way we look after our own regions and local places is the way we can experience other places in the world we go and have correct, handy and relevant information provided by other Local Guides. I always try to think how else we can support one another, other residents and visitors so they can see, benefit and experience the best of our local communities, places where we live and care for and also see how much maps can bring to their lives and makes them easier!
I would like to put even more from myself to get involved and to support my neighbourhood and region as a Local Guide so please let me know what input to Google you add and what is important in your opinion. Is it keeping the maps up to date? Or maybe letting others know what are the best places to go out and about? Or perhaps some recommendations for food and drink lovers so they can always spot good review of yours?
