Local Guide exercise meet-up
6100 Old Hwy 90 W
6100 Old Hwy 90 W, San Antonio, TX 78227, USA
April 25, 2020 @ 07:30 (CDT)
During the San Antonio “Stay Home Work Safe” order your exercise routine is probably suffering as the gyms are probably closed both where you work and live. Seize the opportunity to meet fellow Google Local Guides and explore parks you might never have known about while maintaining a safe distance of 6ft. There is no cost to attend. We’ll meet at Levi Strauss Park at 6100 Old Hwy 90 W, San Antonio, TX 78227 and walk the trail to the adjacent parks (Rodriguez and Arvil) and then everyone will be free to explore as much of the three parks as they would like. Please dress in comfortable clothing and wear footwear that will facilitate walking. If you plan to go on the route to the other two parks please note that there are stairs involved.

@Traphan Oh, I thought this was a virtual meetup but it’s actually taking place for real!
Hope you’ll take some photos and share them in your recap post! Have fun but please be safe and ensure that social distancing is maintained!

@AdrianLunsong Thank you for your post and feedback. I made the following announcement to help guide the social distancing. I’ll also have a shared album to capture photos.
In order to maintain social distancing try to park at least one spot away from the other cars parked in the lot. If the meet-up gets more people than we are expecting there are a couple of other parking lots by this intersection which is a short walk to Levi Strauss Park. Rodriguez Ave & Jerome Rd, San Antonio, TX 78227.

@Traphan Fantastic!! Hope the weather there is good! It’s currently 21°C/70°F in Manchester, UK … and for spring season, it’s uncharacteristically warm! I’m seriously convinced that because we’re in lockdown here, the weather has decided to cruelly taunt us with amazing weather for the past few weeks now!

@AdrianLunsong Thank you. That is some nice weather for Manchester, UK. A while back a friend of mine who used to live in Manchester, UK went with me to see the movie “Manchester by the Sea”. We should have researched the movie more before going, as we were disappointed when we saw it and discovered it was not about the UK Manchester.

@Traphan Hah! I thought it was a movie about Manchester, UK too! Luckily I did check the trailers just in case! That’s quite the small world that you know someone who used to live here! I still consider Manchester as a small city (it is in a way) and that nobody really knows about this city unless they follow English football (soccer). Everybody just tends to gravitate towards London and assumes that I’m near London or in London! Hope your meetup went well!
Thank you to everyone who came out to the socially distant meet-up event to encourage people to exercise this weekend. The weather could not have been any more perfect and we all got some good exercise in and saw some new sights. If you count the stop we made at the Wolff Stadium trailhead, then there are four parks you can access from Levi Strauss Park as a starting point (and since it is a minor league ballpark it definitely can be counted as a park). We’ll try to schedule another meet-up in the near future. If you haven’t done so already, check out the shared photo album and upload any you may have taken at the event.
