What does the Local Guide Program mean to me? … well, a lot. I got loads of questions from family, colleagues and friends asking why I do this. I travel a lot of myself, both professional and private, and I entirely rely on Maps. The info and data (of the Local Guide Community) are very useful and of high-quality standards. These quality standards can only be achieved if you have a dedicated, motivated and committed community working on this on daily basis. The Local Guide Program managed to achieve this … and that is the reason why I joined. I noticed, being a Local Guide, it changes the way you travel. In the back of your mind, there is always a certain awareness present. I started taking pictures of places I would never have been taking pictures from privately, but for the Local Guide community, they made sense. But this is not only about usefulness … there is funstuff as well. Like sharing pictures and stories of events … and the responses or feedback on this are mind-blowing. It is amazing and motivates to contribute more and more and more …
Like Tomorrowland, a world-wide dance music festival in Belgium, where I really like to go to. You meet people from all over the world and their unbelievable stories on what they do to get there for only 1 weekend.
It is insane how many people reacted on these pictures saying that they were there as well … or wished they were there …
Food pictures are also very popular … I went for a special occasion to an expensive restaurant which is currently in vogue …
Unbelievable how many people asked more info and details about these dishes …
Sports events as well do really good … Tour de France 2019, start in Brussels (Le Grand Depart) …
You recognize the Atomium as landmark. A massive amount of people reacted on that as well in very positive and constructive way … that is what I really like on the Local Guide and that is the reason why the Local Guide Program means a lot to me.
