Hello fellow LG’s!
I recently discovered Local Guides Connect and tought it would be great to write my first post by sharing my story.
My name is Thyron and I live in Antwerp, Belgium.
I actively started contributing to Google Maps in october 2018 when I was visiting Thailand.
On my journey I depended alot on Google Maps. I felt I had to give something back so I started writing helpful reviews of the places I discovered there. With those reviews I aimed for helping other tourists like me by providing relevant information and sharing my experience.
I really liked the way how google rewarded me with points for writing these reviews. And soon people were viewing and liking my photos, I even got more than 6000 views on just one picture! That truly inspired me to continue contributing on Google Maps.
My goal every year is to visit a country I haven’t been before. As for now I have been successful every year.
I will continue contributing to google maps on my travels so I can give back what local guides provided me on me previous journeys.
Thank you Local Guides! Feel free to share your story with me.
I would like to let you know that I’ve released your post from our spam quarantine. Apologies for any inconvenience caused - our spam filters are sensitive and can be triggered by a myriad of functions.
Thailand is a great country to visit, I’ve been there several times, I really enjoy their nature and cultures. They also have some of the great foods there.
Hello @Thyron , as you have already noticed: in June there is a big European Meet-up taking place in Gent, which is quite close to where you live. Would you be interested in joining us there for 1 or more days? It’s a great opportunity to meet other local guides. So far 4 level 10 local guides have signed up and 1 Connect Moderator.
Hey @JanVanHaver , ik heb jou meet-up inderdaad gezien.
Thank you for very much for sharing your story and for your contributions on Google Maps! I just wanted to let you know that I have removed the Dutch language tag of your post as it’s written in English. These type of labels are used so that posts in different languages can be found more easily by Local Guides who are speakers of these languages. You can learn more about language tags in the article: How do I find posts in my preferred language?.
@Johan-Wouters er is nog niets concreet vastgelegd, maar ik ben van plan om begin 2020 een Meetup te organiseren in Breda voor Nederlandstalige Local Guides.
