I like quick coffee just as much as the next person. But there’s a reason local Coffeeshops need community patronage more than the local chains.
It’s important to remember that these coffee shops in your community are directly involved in giving back. These small shops are the ones promoting other local businesses, inviting up-and-coming entrepreneurs to showcase their new products, and starting scholarship funds for their student staff members.
Corporations can’t invest in the community like that, and it shows. Their national campaigns for banning straws don’t hold a candle to the pop-up-vintage shops that invite strong people who are launching their passion and business and provide representation and publicity.
The next time you go for an iced latte, consider looking to the local shops, and rest assured that your dollar is going right back into the community you live in.
I recommend The Attic, CommonGround at the ADRC, Kavarna, Lox Stock and Bagel, and the Daily Buzz.
