‘Tis the season for giving. I was searching for places that I can volunteer this year. Then I thought, I wish there was a Local Guides’ List for this in Chicago. I couldn’t find one, so I created one.
Lists are the perfect way to collect groups of local charities. Charities need volunteers and donations all year round to help the local community. Your list can live on and help ensure these organizations can continue helping underprivileged populations.
Things I’ve Noticed:
A few charities aren’t listed on maps; adding the charities to maps helps collect funds and encourage volunteers.
List notes can help visitors to your list learn more about the charity quickly.
Profile updates are needed. Most of these profiles are not managed, so some of the information is out of date.
I learned a lot about local organizations and how they are working to change lives in the local area.
I challenge each Local Guide that reads this post to create a list for their city. I’d love it if you would create a list and share your link in this post. Let’s make a difference in others’ lives through maps.
I will be creating additional charity lists focused on specific groups. My next list will be specifically focused on LGBTQIA, animals, and environmental support organizations.
One last note. For the first 10 charity lists posted on this topic, I will donate to one of the charities on your list. (As long as I can figure out how to donate. International donations might be difficult, but I’ll do my best). Looking forward to donating to 10 charities.
@RJ1 thank you for your kind gesture. Please feel free to donate to RULAAC to support their works in assisting victims of brutality especially during #EndSARS campaign.
@EmekaUlor I am sad to say I tried to donate to multiple charities on your list and they do not accept international donations. I even tried to donate through their Facebook pages.
If you have a charity in the USA that you’d like me to donate to, please let me know.
I tried as many options as I could think of to donate to a charity on your list. They all failed.
