When I first discovered I could be a Google guide I started documenting local businesses in the area, taking photos inside cafes and coffee shops and contributing as much as I could.
Coming from a small town with not much of a thriving economy, it’s paramount local businesses get a wider reach with the hope they’ll attract at least a few more customers on their travels or find them getting lost in Nelson. It’s easy to do with the one way system here.
Having a business myself I appreciate it’s difficult to put yourself out there so being visible on Google maps is essential in the modern world. A lot of businesses in this town may not have the knowledge or technical know how to put their business on there, so I feel my contributions are my way of helping in a small way.
My contributions have had over 300k views since I began which I feel is a great achievement for such a small place!
