ich habe diese Funktion heute zu Fuß ausprobiert. Auf der Karte wo man einen Ort eingeben und anzeigen lassen kann, schiebt man die Ortsansicht ganz nach unten und sieht dann den Pin Live. Diesen einmal drücken und schon hat man seinen Weg auf dem Smartphone angezeigt und wird in Richtung des Ortes mit einem Pin geführt. Zudem werden für den Live Weg auch Warnungen eingeblendet, wie Achtung Kreuzung und so weiter. Eignet sich sicher gut für Orte die man nicht kennt. Gespeichert wird der Weg aber nicht.
Noch ein Zusatz, vielleicht wäre es für Blinde auch eine gute Möglichkeit Wege und Gefahren hörbar zu machen.
You’re referring to the Live View that has been introduced a few years ago. As you experienced, it is available only in the Walking mode of routing, and in some countries, those have complete street view coverage. You can read more about this feature in the Help Center.

I didn’ttry it out myself yet. But if the info is pure visual content and there’s no description from talkback describing what the camera is seeing, I think it would be of little use for the totally blind or born blind person, as a blind person can’t find out how and where to point the camera at. If you don’t know the location of a sign (for naming just one thing) you can’t point the camera at it. I also would prefer to use the smartphone hands free while navigating, because I’m using a white cane while walking the streets and when I must take my smartphone in the hand and sway it around for getting something in focus etc. this would distract me and that’s the last thing I want while walking.
Ich habe schon verschiedene Menschen gesehen die das Smartphone wie eine Kette um den Hals tragen. Bei dieser Funktion gibt man ja seinen Zielort vor Beginn ein. Natürlich müsste eine konkrete Wegbeschreibung hörbar erfolgen und ob es so möglich ist weiß ich natürlich auch nicht. Ich sehe hier in Eckernförde immer eine Person die sich an unseren Blindenstreifen auf der Straße orientiert.
I don’t have such a strap thing (I didn’t have the chance to test this out). And such special stones on the street that can help the blind to find their way are interesting and helpfull if they are available and if others aren’t blocking the way by putting things on these relief lines.
