When I come across a place that is not under too many people’s radar, I get excited. Google is a huge platform for content. When I look up a specific place on Google, and I can’t find much, that is a sign for me to contribute, to add content about that specific place or activity. This is how I unintentionally became a local guide in Armenia. Google has been my go-to search engine for years. When I first moved to Armenia 2 years ago, I kept googling and couldn’t find much about a lot of the eateries, hiking trails and shops. I slowly started adding photos on maps and I would notice my photos were getting thousands of views. There is demand. It makes me feel like a pioneer, an explorer. I am so grateful for the opportunities Google gives people like me to inform the less adventurous amongst us about new places and activities, and ultimately makes the world a smaller, more connected place.
