Limit for number of private messages

Hello Fellow LGs,

Surprisingly I came across a situation wherein I am not able to reply to the private message. I am getting the error as

“You have reached the limit for number of private messages that you can send for now. Please try again later.”.

I have also attached the screenshot below. (Please note so far I have sent only two responses till date under Private message. Is 2 messages only the quota?)

@Kumaarsantosh

I thought it is was a max 3 posts per hour limit.

Maybe @DeniGu will enlighten us.

Cheers

Hi @Kumaarsantosh ,

Can you please force a log-out from Connect on your device by clicking on the Sign out button? Then clear browser cookies and cache, log back in, and let me know if you’re able to send a private message.

@MortenCopenhagen There is indeed a limit of five private messages per minute before community members are made to verify they’re not bots, but in this case, it seems to be a cache problem. Thanks for the tag here!

Hi @DeniGu … It happened to me yesterday. Already did that and today still can’t send any messages. Any ideas?

Hi @gabito705 ,

Thank you for reaching out. Could you share with us the steps you take to send a new message and a screenshot of what happens when you try to send a new message? Or, if you could take a video recording while you try to send a message, that would be even more helpful for us to investigate.

Hi @InaS , yeah that’s something really rare.

I go to respond the message and after I write and press send always appears this alert:

I don’t put any special characters or images or anything special really, simply text.

After this alert appears at the top of the box, I press send another time and always appears this alert:

Since I became aware of this community I only sent one private message to a user. Nothing more.

Hi @gabito705 ,

Thank you for your reply and for sharing the screenshots. We have tested the issue on our end and everything looks good.

To further troubleshoot, could you please try the following:

  1. Open your account in incognito mode and check if you can send messages.
  2. Try logging in to a different account and check if you can send messages.

If you are still experiencing the issue after trying the above steps, please let us know.

Hi @InaS ,

I tried 1) and the same problem, even try a different laptop and a mobile. Nothing. Same two alerts.

I tried 2) with my sister’s account and sent a test message without trouble on Chrome incognito. On the second try, the error again.

Moments later I tried 2) creating a new account on localguidesconnect.com with a second Gmail account on Firefox focus and tried to send a private message to this account with only the words test on subject and body message and done. 10 minutes later, tried to send the message that I wanted to test and fail: two alerts. Now in my second account are these two alerts on every try.

I really don’t know what else can do.

Hi @gabito705 ,

Thank you for your response. We have tested and checked our system and it shows that you should be able to send messages. Our system also shows that you have sent messages in the past.

Also, please close your second account as this violates our Local Guides program rules.

Hi @InaS ,

So I tested again and again last Friday, and my error was I was trying to tag a user with @ but I was including a space in between the characters. That was the whole problem. Forgive me for not posting about it at the moment.

And today I closed the second account. Thanks for letting me know.

Thank you for confirming that everything is fine now and for closing the second account, @gabito705

@InaS This problem is existing again. After not sending last night, I try again tonight which is more than 24 hours later, and it still says “You have reached the limit for number of private messages that you can send for now. Please try again later.”
