Like the unusual when you travel? MONA in Hobart Tasmania is for you :)

If you like a bit of the unusual and you’re visiting Hobart in Tasmania then MONA is for you. It is owned and operated by a fairly eccentric individual and is built into hollowed out sandstone of the natural cliff above the water. The best way to get there is from the wharf in Hobart and the MONA Ferry. I suggest getting the Posh Pit tickets as they come with nibbles and as much alcohol as you can drink on the 25 minute ride. The art collection is very eclectic and is quite amazing.

From the image above starting at the left and going row by row we have Dropbears, massive reflective spheres over the atrium, puffy Porche, girl in a cage, alien gestation chambers, oil filled pit, lit room of spheres, wall of tiles, and a wall of… well… ladybits cast in plaster.

Certainly an interesting experience and well worth the cost of visiting. While the space is across four levels they’re connected by ramps and elevators and is fully accessible.

Wow, thanks for this share @PaulPavlinovich

I really enjoy the use of shadows in the interior. The art works in your photos appear to be very interesting and of an eclectic assortment. Do you happy to snap any exterior photos? I’d love to see the view from the ferry.

Thanks, again

That is really interesting, dear friend @PaulPavlinovich .

Yes, I visited their website… Beautiful…

Great! They have made it 99 steps accessible :wheelchair: too… Appreciate the concept “above the water” - surely eccentric…
