Main point: carry a #LED light.
When I review a location I bring a small portable led light which can be better than the camera flash. Below the light effect is as good as the #coffee - less intrusive.

Hi @Bright_one natural light is always going to serve you best, but yes bringing another small light can be very useful at times. Have you tried holding a napkin/serviette over the light to soften it? That would avoid that bright spot in your photo. You can use yellow and red to warm the light and blue to cool it or just white to soften it without changing the light colour temperature.
