My name is Amirah Abubakar and This is my life in the UK story.
I stayed in the United Kingdom for 2 years and It was the most thrilling and exciting experience in my whole lifetime. I always looked back and Thank God that I had the opportunity to.
So my story starts like this…
I applied for a Masters Degree at Sheffield Hallam University and I got in. Went through the exhausting documentation in Nigeria and it was time for me to go to a ‘foreign land’ all on my own, where I had no family or friends. Yes! I was scared, I was happy (everyone is happy to go to a foreign land, innit?) however I also had mixed feelings, mostly because of the stories you hear on the internet about racism and all.
Luckily, my parents came along to see me off to school and ensured I had everything in place such as with accommodation and course enrolment. I always thankful for that, imagine going off on your first time ever trip to another country all alone. I know right!
So I settled in, my parent went back to Nigeria and all I had was my tiny studio apartment and school of course. I started classes and meeting new people and the locals, everything was superb. Everyone I met was super friendly and warm. They welcomed my race, religion, and identity with ease. I made friends from India, Kenya, Canada, Zimbabwe, Eritrea, Nigeria, and lots of Brits.
I studied smart and traveled hard! This made my life in the UK the most memorable. I will be posting things I did in all the places I visited during my stay. Thank you and I hope you enjoyed this.
Please feel free to ask questions if any.
