Life as a Google Guide during a lock down

When you have undertaken the task of a guiding the people under the banner of Google Guide you need to be an active traveler for your reviews and travel stories.

But the life comes with an unexpected event. Covid 19 is also the same case, which has halted the entire globe’s movement. This situation is an unfortunate but we have to face it with the full force and with an anticipation that this black night will end soon and we will see a brighter day on the other end.

For many of us Google Guide is not just a task or a program but it’s a responsibility towards a travelers who will be visiting our cities as a guest. In India we say अतिथिदेवो भव (Atithidevo Bhava) which means “The Guest is God” therefore this lock down is halting us to meet and serve our guest in our area, in our city or in the places where we once visited proudly.

Accessing various social media generates “diminishing marginal utility” law henceforth after a certain time period it creates a monotony feel. Luckily, we have an access to the Google’s Local Guide Connect where we can come across like minded people’s stories and experience form the various parts of the world. Here we learn the various un noticed stories about the places and the people. If required more then we can also explore Google’s YouTube to have a video footage of the same.

For me this lock down period is stressful but whenever I visit Local Guide Connect, here I learn something new and see the unexplored beauty of our Mother Earth.

NAMASTE from India

@VasT hi help me with a tip how do you tell if the photo is not in your authority. I want to agree with you that we need photos that we took on our own

Hi @And12-X2 ,

I am not sure that I understood your question. Can you please rephrase? Do you mean how I understood that it is not his photo or what are the rules of Connect concerning posting content that doesn’t belong to you? For tips on creating your own great posts on Connect, please see, How do I write a post on Connect? and How do I follow the original content guidelines on Connect?.

By the way @harie , thank you very much for editing your content.
