Licence plate and face blur

Hi there,

I do try my best to blur out faces as well as car licence plates but i was wondering if I accidentally miss a spot somewhere and it gets reported…

"Blurring

Google takes a number of steps to protect the privacy of individuals when Street View imagery is published to Google Maps.

We have developed cutting-edge face and license plate blurring technology that is designed to blur identifiable faces and license plates within Google-contributed imagery in Street View. If you see that your face or license plate requires additional blurring, or if you would like us to blur your entire house, car, or body, submit a request using the “Report a problem” tool."

Does that mean Google will take down the whole 360 tour or just one 360 photo where an object has to be blurred or simply Google (the bit in bold in above paragraph) will blur whatever has to be blurred when requested by the person who reported it…

Can please someone elaborate… Thank you in advance.

Hello @user_not_found

There can be two possibilities.

Somebody may report that as a breach of privacy and that would lead to purging.

Else, the automation or the AI may detect that in routine analysis and then sticking to the rules the contribution may get removed.

When you come across any such oversight, the best strategy would be to correct that immediately instead of hoping to escape the aromatic scrutiny.

Hi @user_not_found ,

Please note that what you have quoted in your post, is related to the images which Google owns. If the photo is yours than you are the one responsible for blurring it before publishing. If you think that someone else has published a photo of you that violates the Maps User Contributed Content Policy, report the photo using the instructions below.

More about blurring images you may find in the Blur or remove 360 photos with the Street View app article.
