Este es un licaón, perro salvaje africano o lobo pintado, es endémico del continente africano y el único representante vivo de su especie.
Se encuentra catalogado dentro de la “Lista Roja de Especies Amenazadas” bajo la categoría “En peligro” de extinción, eso pese a ser considerado “el mejor cazador del mundo” por su porcentaje de éxito (9/10).
Se caracteriza por sus orejas redondas y pelaje con manchas que forman patrones y que les hace únicos, pues no comparten “su diseño” con ningún otro sujeto.

African Painted Dogs live only in Africa and there would be only a few thousand. The researchers found that they have a complex system of communication and submit the decision to go hunting “vote”. They are near extinction due to poaching and poisoning by farmers in some states as well as the diseases transmitted by the parasites of the domestic animals that come to their hunting territories once the space is captured by humans. There are only a few safe areas for them in Africa.
