Everywhere we see vandalism and this also happens in the virtual world and the same on Google Maps.
One thing that sometimes we see on the map is a curse, bad or impolite words that users write in names. They do this just as a hobby or to annoy someone or one rival business.
1. Search. I know that we as good users on the web, never follow bad words but in this case, we should search the local bad words to find the place that it has a bad word in its name. For example, this search could contain an urban word.
2. See if the place is a personal home, fake point or a real place/business. I suggest searching for the areas you know to be completely sure about what the place really is.
3. If it is a personal place or fake point, just try to remove the whole point by selecting a suitable reason when you select edit: Remove>Private place or Remove>Spam. For example, if it is a first name and last name it is more likely to be a personal place. If youâre not sure, go to step 4.
4. If it is a real public place that could remain on the map just try to fix the name to the real name it has in the real world. To find the real name (surely without additional keywords) or if youâre not sure if it is private or not, you could check itâs photos, reviews, Street View or search for its other data (ex: phone number) on the web.
5. Wait until your edit is approved and if it not applied, repeat your edit again.
Do this method periodically to remove such bad words and keep the mapâs atmosphere clean.
Great post @Amiran . I have never tried this myself, but I will most certainly do this in the near future (most likely - knowing myself: already in a quick test within the next 5 minutes).
And with that, one of my personal goals in this project is already reached: learn something new in the fight against spam : - )
As predicted @Amiran , I just had to try this⌠and it is indeed real fun, being allowed to come up with all kind of bad words - and have a perfectly good reason to search for them ; - )
I was able to report 2 spam entries already. Thx again for this wonderful tip!
Yes, unfortunately there is a reason for searching such words â
I mentioned this because sometimes I see such places on the map (like today) which is not good at all to remain, and even sometimes such false information became bold on social networks as a lack of Google Maps and this is not good.
Nice input, @Amiran . I did search for the first 10 very dirty and naughty words I could think of near Copenhagen. All came up Nothing found. So eighter my vocabulary is too limited or my fellow country men never figured out this kind of spam. Fun to do though.
Yes, mine is so and I also search for about/less than 10 words in this case but even these ones shouldnât be on the map. Also, one city seems not to be vast enough to find such spams. I suggest to test it on other areas, too (if you have or can collect enough info).
Sometimes it can be tricky, though, @Amiran@MortenCopenhagen : there is a known âfunnyâ coincidence in Dutch with an airport in Austria. The name of the airport is exactly the same as the Dutch slang word for testicles.
Inspired by your post i just successfully removed 5 spam pins. I searched for âlives hereâ and five private homes came up. Even one named âI live hereâ. You could also use search terms like House or Family to find such irrelevant pins.
I mentioned that every time I try to fix info instead of removing the point and I only remove if I see it is really spam or private place. Unfortunately, in this case, I have no local info to find enough info about this point.
Because it is a specific case, I think it would be good to create a new thread about this (here on Connect or in the help forum) and explain more details so moderators could help better, Although surely Iâll also try to help as I can.
This is also another thing that I search for sometimes and there are more such points. The way of finding private places is another thing that I had this in mind to share my experience with it in another thread.
There is no clothing store there
The reviews that are left are also dirty words written by hooligans
The words are part of the slang
If I try to explain them, my post will be deleted

Do you want to send you in private what those words mean?
Do I have to draw with a pencil to understand everyone?
Does the location have a picture or a contact phone or website?
See any clothes or shoes from the company, âAididasio from Mike and Abidasâ, there? That also appears in the reviews
Have you even analyzed it?
What info do you have about the location?
Surely you will guide us to the best info about this place bro @To_paul
I just told that because at first glance I saw a place in the Romanian language that I have no language skill about it, and one front store in SV that seems to have a word like a bad word in English on the sign but Iâm not sure about the Romanian language. So I thought it may have a fault.
Because I needed more info and because this wasnât suitable to investigate a specific case in this general guide topic, I suggested you create a new thread for this case. Anyway, Iâll try to check this case myself, too based on your data.
@To_paul I can confirm what @Amiran was saying before about this particular case: as the relevant information is only available in Romanian (and Google Translate is not giving a clear translation, as there is often not enough context), neither he or myself can be confident enough to suggest any kind of edits. This does most certainly not mean that what you are saying is not correct, or that you are not trustworthy, but my basic attitide (and I suspect this is also the case for Amiran) is that I never make edits âjust becasue someone said soâ. If the information I need to be sure can be found on e.g. the website or on recent pictures or recent Street View images, I am sometimes able to help, but also then it is a case by case approach.
