Hi, so I have been Level 8 for the longest time (I’m working on it!). I checked in Google Maps and it now says that I’m Level 7 and have 14,221 points but when I look in Local Guides connect, it still says that I’m Level 8. So Which one is correct? Do we lose points if something we post is incorrect or something? I understand I could have made a mistake here or there but not 800+ points worth of mistakes?
Level 8 is a dead zone (they should in fact introduce a level 8.5). 800 points would cripple me. It sounds like a glitch that will course correct itself. Lots of bugs crawling around these days.
Hello @P0ffee
You may have lost the points for the two reasons as here.
- Removal of photos or review if these are found to be violating the posting policies. The following link describes that in detail
https://support.google.com/contributionpolicy/answer/7422880?hl=en
- Deletion of answers to the questions unknowingly, because of choosing deletion of maps history through settings. You will find details of that in this post.
The levels are based on points and the one displayed in Maps is the correct one.
To reflect the changes on Connect, it may need some more time for the servers to synchronize.
In addition to the useful link shared by @C_T , I suggest you to check also this post: What photos should I share on Google Maps?
As far as I can see, there are several photos posted twice, and some photos that are modified, but basically are the same photos already posted.
All that photos should be made private, and you will loose more points probably.
Posting duplicate photos is against the rules, it can also cause a suspension from the program. My suggestion is to remove all the duplicate ASAP, as indicated in the post shared with you
Thanks that makes sense. I did go through and delete a bunch of duplicates I had accidentally uploaded and I guess I never checked my points after. I probably have some Ireland photos I accidentally uploaded twice since there were so many so I’ll definitely go through and clean those up too. Thanks for your help!
Thank you for the feedback @P0ffee
