LetsGuide Podcast Episode 37: Artificial Unintelligence

Advanced software products, like Google Maps, these days tend to rely quite a bit on the use of AI, Artificial Intelligence. For us as local guides, however, there are sometimes signs that the AI capabilities Google no doubt has (they are a major player in that field) is not always usedin the best possible way.

A while ago I started collecting examples of this as I came across them in my everyday use of Maps, and more specifically as local guide. As the list was filling up rapidly, I decided to now share it as a podcast episode called Articifial Unintelligence.

Can you (after having listened to the episode of course  ) find other examples? Please do share them in the comments!

Brilliant episode, @JanVanHaver .

I hear some justified urgency in your voice in this podcast episode.

Google have to listen and act :ear_of_rice:

One more thing would be to stop the stupid prompts we get to upload photos again after we already uploaded them to Google Maps.

This would be an easy and much needed fix that will fend off tons of duplicate photos and create more respect and acceptance of the photo guidelines.

Cheers

Absoluterly right @MortenCopenhagen , and as it happensI just stumbled across another one when I was on a walk this morning: when uploading the picture of a restaurant storefront, surely an AI-based analysis of the picture could prevent the then meaningless follow-up screen asking which menu item is shown on the picture…

Ah well, than I already have a mini-rant ready for the next News & Updates episode
