In Arizona, as summer is around the corner, the sun becomes a fiery magician - sometimes even turning raw eggs left outside into a cooked scramble. The residents retreat to their abodes in the late afternoon and try to come out earlier to avoid the heat. In the rare instances when not overcome by the temptation of the snooze button, this resident here goes on a sunrise walk.
Below are some of my favorite local spots for sunrise walks:
Pinnacle Peak Park Trail
As you turn the corner towards the last mile of the trail, the mountain no longer obstructs the sun. Light rays cascade onto the steps leading down, nature’s version of the Hollywood red carpet. As the sun squeezes itself up over the ranges in the horizon, the city in front of you is bathed in a golden glow. Going early lets you avoid the crowds on this out-and-back path. It takes about 2-3 hours to finish as you traverse up and down twice one way, and then back the other way.
Desert Vista Trail
In the spring, the hills are lush with vegetation. A little after sunrise, you can see the hot air balloons taking off. Their splash of colors stand out in contrast to the clouds, from which the sun gently peaks out. The loop trail, with its gentle ups and downs, takes 2-3 hours to complete.
McDowell Sonoran Preserve
30,580 acres of desert and 225 plus miles of trail to explore at your heart’s content. At sunrise, the blue-tinted mountains look like ocean waves. Sometimes, a playful wind creatively shapes the clouds into fun and artistic shapes.
From Tom’s Thumb Trailhead at the northern end, you can take the side trail to see rock remains of a landslide that happened 500,000 years ago. Gateway Trailhead at the southern end offers a moderate 4.4 mile loop, best taken clockwise for an easier and scenic downhill.
How about you fellow local guides? Is there a local spot you like to walk at to enjoy sunrises?

Always brightens my day to hear from you.
Yes, same as you- it would be scary to actually go up in the hot air ballon.

Yes, we do have many such walking/jogging trails - in Bangalore, it is around the lakes… Sunset & sunrise - both are enjoyable in our climate…
Thanks for your valuable sharing, which is under the ‘Featured’ board - congratulations!

Too humorous - yes, it can get hot!
Thank you for your kind and supportive words, and I love how you felt immersed in the desert.
Wow, that is nice that you also get to see some hot air balloons on your way to work, and I can relate to how your heart soars with them but then the moment you get into work- you are interrupted from the trance.

Thank you @PrasadVR
I try to go occasionally, but many times I get so sleepy on the weekends, I miss the sunrise. I will have to go on them more often to escape the summer heat.
