Lets Travel to the Old Time - Ayutthaya, Thailand (Part - 1)

Ayutthaya was once the capital of the Kingdom of Siam* (Thailand). It was a magnificent city & international trading port founded in 1350. It remained as capital for about 400 year & one of the greatest cities of Asia until it was razed by the Burmese in 18th century. The ruins of the old city still remains & the area is known as Ayutthaya Historical Park, an archaeological site.

How to go: From Bangkok you can take the train from Mo-Chit & it will take one & a half hour to reach Ayutthaya. You can also take train which will take almost two hours. Also another available option is taxi.

*The name Siam was changed to Thailand in 1939, but again in 1945 it was changed to Siam & again in 1949 it was changed to Thailand.

I will be glad to know about your thoughts regarding the photography & also let me know if you want to share something about Ayutthaya.

Some facts:

  • The city of Ayutthaya was founded by King Ramathibodi I.

  • Ayutthaya is the second Siamese capital after Sukhothai.

  • Ayutthaya is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
