Let's talk about photography techniques by everyone!

Why do not we share the photography techniques you think are important?

Many people are keen on photography. Sometimes photography can be the dignity of the photographer and the subject. We are having days to be praised by friends by showing pictures. Everyone is serious about photography. so, everyone is acquiring some kind of photography technology.

There is therefore proposed. Please tell us the technique you think is important.

There is one rule. Please respect the opinions of everyone. First of all, I will show off my way of thinking about photography.

I am photographing with “oriental art”, “Western art” and “contemporary art”.

Concept of oriental art

The characteristic of Oriental art is to carefully draw information of “Five Ws and How” on one picture. Art is the amount of information.

  1. Who was involved?
  2. What happened?
  3. Where did it take place?
  4. When did it take place?
  5. Why did that happen?
  6. How did it happen?

It is one of the values of Oriental art to see how much information can be incorporated on a single screen. It is the thickness of the book of your writing novel.

  1. A lot of foreign tourists visit
  2. To visit sightseeing
  3. To Kiyomizu temple, the biggest sightseeing spot in Kyoto
  4. In autumn afternoon
  5. Autumn leaves are beautiful
  6. Climb the hill

  1. The Japanese old woman wearing a warm clothes
  2. Cooking Japanese Food
  3. Japanese style stalls
  4. In winter
  5. To sell to tourists
  6. Boiled dumplings with a skewer in a big pot

There is also the opposite technique. By omitting other elements, you can strongly claim the subject as one thing. It is frequently used in Instagram. I took this picture to emphasize the originality that the Japanese tea contains maple.

Concept of Western art

The theme of Western art is clear. That is the main character. Traditional Western art always sets the main character. Techniques for gathering gaze using scientific illusion are used. It is a building or a supporting role. By being guided by our eyes, we can feel the flow of time despite being a photograph that stops time. This is one of the values of Western art.

The main character is “autumn leaves” As many tourists are turning their eyes on the autumn leaves, we want to focus on autumn leaves. The direction of Kiyomizu temple is also the direction of autumn leaves.

It is strongly guiding the gaze to the skewer dumplings that the hands of old women picked up. It suggests that it is just before handing it, and it makes you feel time even though it is not a movie.

Other examples.

Also, if you take a picture on a plane that does not lead to a line of sight, the explanation as an element of things will be emphasized.

Concept of contemporary art

Contemporary art aims are areas of unknown. It is a mission to deny the existing beauty values and search for new value.

They say “beauty” is “doubt” and “discomfort”. Doubt is to be confused without having seen before. The discomfort is that the doubt continues for a long time and can not be convinced. So attachment increases by trying to dispel it, we feels beautiful as a result. Because it becomes indifferent if it gets used to it. If you felt it strange when you saw a piece of contemporary art, you are proof that you are being fascinated.

Next is your turn!

Thank you @YasumiKikuchi for this post, that is opening a very interesting subject, at least in my mind. You are completely changing my view of photographic techniques, moving my attention from the main, single subject of a photo, to an universe of elements that are contributing to compose an image.

I am actually re-thinking a lot about the meaning of a photo, and more about the philosophy behind it.

I will come with some of my photos later today

I like art. There are countless abundant traditional art and museums in your area. When I was a boy I can not forget my memory when I traveled to Europe for an art training trip😊

You are welcome @YasumiKikuchi

inside every photographer there is a lover of arts. Every time we take a picture and we share it, we offer to the others our unique point of view, mostly if we are taking photos of arts.

When I was very young in the community I was trying to explore a similar concept “image versus imagination”, trying to understand the feeling of the readers for different photographic technique.

This is more interesting when we are photographing arts, and mostly “modern art”

even if we want to be “aseptic” we always share our point of view.

Hey @YasumiKikuchi !

I’m very much a beginner in the photography area, I just take photos of what I like from an angle that I think looks good.

I have a lot to learn, I only know the famous rule of thirds and I try to apply it when I can.

Thank you for sharing your Five W’s and How technique, and for creating this topic. I will try to apply your technique in the future, and I’m sure I’ll learn a lot from others commenting here.

Maybe @Attrix can share some techniques with us

Agree with you @YasumiKikuchi, humanity with sensitivity, and what is behind a photo: a person, that is sending a message, conscious or unaware of it.

In the last period I tried to do something different, adding a second subject to some of my photos, or moving intentionally the real subject out of focus.

Just yesterday I was chatting with @TravellerG about this picture.

the compliments that he gave to me still making me blushing “is a real Pro shot; Amazing capture, with the Bee in sharp focus - someone who hunted for such a ‘Frame’ only will know the real pain/ the value!”, but I want to compare the picture with this one, where the bee on the right side is, even if out of focus, capturing the eye and making the picture dynamic

Hi @Jesi @Attrix , Thank you for introducing the technique along with the link😊.

One third rule based on the golden ratio as you say is very important. It is a sense that we inherited from our ancestors, making it easy for viewers to understand beauty. It also makes sense to “save time” which is the proposition of Google Maps⌛.

I want you to tell me the photography technique you think in the future😉

Thank you for dynamic photos @ErmesT

The most impressive thing is that this picture makes time and speed feel:bullettrain_front:. Flowers are objects that are very slow in time and yet they do not move. Is it because it contrasts with the insect’s speed feeling?:mag:

Yes @YasumiKikuchi. Even if the insect is out of focus, your eyes are moving there, so the feeling of some action can capture your attention.

And more, you try to put it “on focus”. Try to concentrate your attention on the flower only, and let me know if you can doit easily.

You are right when you write about Western photographers or, at least, about me ? I usually (not always) try to have a single, well defined subject. So I need another way, to play with the imagination of the people that is watching my photos

Playing with the focus, playing with the lines can, in my opinion, help to stimulate attention and imagination much more than a perfect shot, where there is nothing to discover, because everything is there.

In this photo, what is your feeling?

I am tagging in here also @FaridTDF and @MoniDi, as I think both are interested in this post

That is a nice subject @ErmesT ,

It represents the loneliness of the withered forest near the river in harsh winter, but because it is sunny, lively and warmth is enclosed at the same time somewhere🤔. That is, there are multiple times.

I love these questions and answers. I remember the discussions with old fellow art associates😊
