Let's replicate recipes from our favorite restaurants

It’s no secret that the Local Guides team loves eating at restaurants and writing reviews of our favorite places. With that, we thought it would be fun to try and replicate recipes from our favorite restaurants.

Many Googlers have already been doing this and we’re excited to share our recipes with you over the next few weeks. In the meantime, we invite you to do the same! Here’s how you can participate in our recipe challenge:

  1. Pick a dish from your favorite restaurant and try to recreate it at home.
  2. Photograph the process capturing each step you took.
  3. Create a Connect post on the Food & Drink topic board that includes your recipe and preparation instructions.

Feel free to get creative! If you have old photos or past reviews of the restaurant, you can link to those as well. Those of you who share your recipes could be featured in a future post on Connect. We can’t wait to see what you’ll cook up!

Me encanta el desafío @KatieMcBroom es muy divertido poder emular nuestro plato favorito en casa, en tiempos de cuarentena.

Veremos que sale, después les cuento.

Love your story but in the present case the whole world is lockdown. In such a situation it is not possible, at least from Bangladesh. If the future situation is normal then I will try it. @KatieMcBroom Thanksgiving for your valuable post sharing with us  :rose: .

Has been fun and mouth-watering seeing everyone create some awesome dishes during this time. Unfortunately I did not record the steps so I’ll share here, but I made an attempt at some of the best cookies I’ve ever had, Levain Bakery of NYC using this recipe.

Not as incredible of course but reminiscent at the least!

That would be amazing .Once you get found of eating at specific restaurant , you soon have favourite dish. You wish you know the recipe and could prepare it at home. While I often visit a restaurant called " свои́ компании " with family and friends. Once I am alone I prefer to sneak in to KFC . You guess my favourite , chicken nuggets. That is what I will love to prepare at home.Hello @KatieMcBroom thanks for sharing this interesting topic

This is a great idea @KatieMcBroom

I opted for trying out a food challenge instead, I created a recipe for Dalgona Coffee Shots. However, I’m looking forward to creating new recipes inspired by my favourite restaurants and also trying out new food challenges.

The best chance of success @KatieMcBroom is probably to use the ingredients from the restaurant that prepares your favorite meal!

And that is also a good way to support them in difficult times, maybe better than buying stuff at supermarkets which are already busy.

So for a seasonal favourite in the Netherlands, white asparagus, we went to the Asparagus Drive-Through at restaurant De Fazant and obtained a bag of ingredients:

Next, we unwrapped all of this in the kitchen and used their added preparation instruction to make a meal out of it.

Frankly, it was mostly a matter of heating up and arranging nicely on the plate

The results were looking pretty good for two variations:

White asparagus with egg and salmon, and white asparagus with smoked steak and thinly sliced potatoes.

Everything went down quite well with a nice bottled of chilled Chardonnay-Viognier blend from Chile!
