Sure, finding the best carrot cake in town is incredible but have you ever looked a homeless dog in the eyes while you’re petting it? If you haven’t then I encourage you to do so.
I’m an animal lover and I’ve been as long as I can remember. As an expat living in Spain I tend to miss the pets I had to leave behind on my hometown (Caracas, Venezuela) everyday, which in turn has led me to desperately look out for new places to spend some time with other animals.
That’s how I ended up visiting non-kill shelters, cat cafés and everything animal related in different cities of Spain such as Valencia, Madrid and Barcelona. My mission is to encourage people to visit those places as well, since these have always proven to be positive experiences to me.Non-Kill shelters work incredibly hard to provide health and happiness to cats and dogs who live there, and there are multiple ways of helping around: walking the dogs, cleaning, and even hanging around with cats. Every pet in the shelter is desperate to spend quality time with any given person, and they are the most grateful creatures you’ll ever meet.
An alternative to shelters are cat-cafes, those placer are incredible. You get coffee and cat, what else do you need? I suggest to look for those that work as adoption centers too so that way you help to promote adoption of those gorgeous kitties. But not everything is about shelters and adoption. I’ve found some unique places pet-related thanks to google maps. So as a Local guide I’m motivated to visit every animal related place and share my experience with the community. My mission is to pet all animals while encouraging more people to adopt, help and respect them. It started with Spain but I surely added to my bucket list to visit every place where I can pet a dog or a cat around the world.I’m sure in your area there are also lots of pets waiting for someone to give them some love!
