Come and join our Letā€™s Map Underwater for Google Maps in Hikkaduwa, Sri Lanka. Being a nature lover and a diver, I always like to share natureā€™s hidden adventures to people who have similar interest. this meetup is focused on capturing marine life such as fish, corals etc. to participate in this meetup you must at least know swimming and snorkeling also, you may need an underwater camera (waterproof) / waterproof case for your phone which can protect water from damaging your devices. please bring down your snorkeling kits if you have any / you can rent those from a supplier from this place. it will cost around LKR 500 this. Letā€™s take more photos from their place without disturbing the ecosystem and share on google map. in 2017 I visited this place and you can get a better picture from this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mxgRDkbRUa4 The meetup will start in front of Wijaya Water Sports at 11 am.

Great Meetup idea @IlankovanT .

I do not dive and will not dive, but I love to see pictures below the sea level. Not only in the water, but as well in caves (where I go when the chance is there :wink: )

there are many ways we can contribute to Google maps. Iā€™m a diver, nature lover I decided to take this to my bucket list and started to capture some cool hidden nature from April. this is my third meetup under the theme of ā€œLets Map Underwaterā€

Torben, I like your interest. A few months back I could site something like a cave under a sea while diving in the eastern coast of Sri Lanka, it was a bit scary and I couldnā€™t turn that side :slight_smile:

in my first meetup, I have explored a Reef with my GoPro camera and took lots of beautiful photos and uploaded to Google map. earlier there were not many photos and I have added many and now many people visiting the reef area to explore. (all my advise is, not to destroy/damage the coral reefs while exploring)

in the second meetup, I decided to make some difficult task! yes went and took some shipwreck photos with scuba kit :slight_smile: I thought of sharing the hidden underwater nature what exists in Sri Lanka with tourists and those have similar interest like Ilankovan.

this is the third meetup and last month I promised @Seedra that I will take her too. but this month due to certain reasons Iā€™m not going for Suba diving and exploring the reef area with snorkeling mode.

Many people among us are more interested in watching these kinds of documentaries on TV channels. of course, I do that too. But here, my wish is to bring the hidden beauties of nature around me through Google Map :slight_smile:
