I started my journey as a google reviewer under very strange circumstances. I went to a bird sanctuary with my family and we were mugged at a knife point. While leaving that place we were told that it was very commonplace for mugging to take place there. I wondered how was it possible that there was no prior information on this online! Upon reading google reviews later after coming home I saw some people had posted similar experiences. In fact, someone in my family had read the reviews and knew about some instances of mugging there but the reviews did not have any impact on him because of the short description and language. After that harrowing experience, I wanted to make sure that no one had to go through what we went through and that is how I started my journey of writing reviews.
Once I embarked upon this journey of sharing knowledge I saw numerous opportunities of making an impact. For example, in one instance when I traveled to Bir (a small himalyan village) I discovered some amazing places to eat but were not even on the maps. I wanted to help them get more business. In another instance, I traveled to Saudi Arabia and realized that there is hardly information available about a lot of restaurants there. Here, the intention was to help travelers and create knowledge.
Thus, whether the intention is to help small businesses or travelers or to warn people - reviews are critical tools for sharing knowledge! And I chose Google rather than any other platform because it is the one stop shop for searches - be it food, parks, service places - you name it!
