Let' go to Libya

Let’s Go to Libya

To begin with, as it may be known for many, my country (Libya) is a large country with an area of more than 2000x2000 km. All camera shots and the internet have not covered it all yet. The huge desert, the expanding beaches, mountains and outdoors museums need more and more to highlight. In Libya, like many countries, I enjoy tours, long journeys to the historical and archaeological places, the breathtaking desert and mountains; I take a lot of marvelous pictures, videos and photo 360, and share them all over the world. All of these remarkable merits have really motivated me to play a practical role, as a Local Guide, in providing images or even correct places that have been missed so far.

In this post I will talk about how I start it as a Local Guide and what I really love to do Like: adding Places, uploading photos, adding reviews or info in reviews, record memories.

Many years ago, Google Maps were not that popular among the people here in Libya. That was because of poor internet connection and lack of knowledge of sharing pictures and stories with others. However, over the last two years the use of Google Maps increased thanks to the great advance in information technology which devised addresses, phone numbers, websites, reviews, work schedules, roads and photos that Google Maps provides. Then the reliability on Google Maps between people has grown ever since because of these data.

The first time for me to be a Local Guide was when I visited the Lake Gaberoun, a wonderful mosaic lies in the heart of the desert 1500 km from Tripoli the Libyan capital. And a way about 60km from any roadway, when there is no streets, no internet, no information and pictures. Then my story with Local Guide has started. The beauty of this lake impressed me so I took lots of cool pictures to this lake and send it to my friends.

I remember that a friend of mine once called me praising the amazing pictures which went viral among friends. Then, I thought why should I make that treasure seen by the whole world and have a more vivid photo about Libya and the amazing places it has. This idea inspired me to be a Local Guide. Moreover, making those pictures accessible to the public would shed lights on the beauty of Libyan desert.

if you open Lake Gaberoun and open photo 360 you will find 3 photos, 2 taken by me with a huge number

Lake Gaberoun 58,075 views

Lake Gaberoun 45,074 views

enjoy with these photos:

It also encouraged me to continue as a Local Guide, after my photos count more than 90,000 views.

Then my deep love to documentation grew more and more as I travelled through Libya as well as other countries like Egypt, Turkey and Tunisia. Further, I help the locals to know more details about restaurants, cafes, hospitals, businesses centers by putting reviews and phone numbers. And every day I realize the overwhelming power of Google Maps and feel so proud that I am part of it.
