What does the Local Guides program mean to me?
Learn, explore, know, help and share your experiences!
I am José Pinto from Guatemala and the Local Guides program has helped me to get more involved every time I go to a new place. Being a local guide for me means: exploring, knowing, helping and sharing experiences
I have never had the opportunity to participate in a global platform and to be able to share my photos and, thanks to Local Guides, I have been able, not only to share my experience when I go anywhere, but also to be able to help people around the world with reviews , photos, questions and answers to give you an idea of the place you are interested in going and knowing.
This is an example of a photo I took when I was staying at this hotel. By putting the name of this on Google Maps, it is the first photo that appears with more than 40K views around the world, it is the photo that I have uploaded that has the most views and is a great example of why I have become increasingly interested in this program.
One of the best uses I have given to this platform was to add a friend’s restaurant, who did not know how to use “Local Guides”.
It is an example of how to help an entrepreneur to make people aware of his business, as well as potential customers, also giving them the possibility to see the menu, hours, photos of the establishment and even food from their cell phone, tablet or computer.
This is a great tool to help people around the world who are wondering if it is worth going to a place they saw advertised in some media or so that they also know options of places, be it: restaurants, bars, clubs, hotels , etc, in your country, city or any other country in the world via the reviews and photos of us, the “Local Guides”.
Another thing I like is that I have the opportunity to teach my family and friends new places around the world that they did not know. That said, I have a list of places that I would like to meet, criticize, and take photos so that more people in the world have the opportunity to one day experience what I experience when I went to those places.
