I went hiking in the Lathkill Dale area of the Peak District in England. After a long walk, two elderly walkers approached me and asked if I could pass a message on further along the trail.
I said sure. What is the message, and to whom? They wanted me to tell a fallen hiker who fell and injured his hip that help was on the way.
So after a few miles of walking, I came across the fallen hiker and his family, who were waiting for help.
The message was that the two walkers had managed to get in touch by phone with mountain rescue and phone for help, so rescue was on the way.
After around half an hour of waiting with the fallen hiker, a mountain helicopter appeared above, so myself and a few others signaled to the helicopter to let them radio to a ground crew so they knew our location as the terrain there has no roads and is quite harsh.
After a while, a search and rescue dog appeared with a number of mountain rescuers who managed to get the fallen hiker to the hospital.
