Slowly the summer says goodbye to the northern half of the globe. And at least in Bavaria it means that soon the Oktoberfest will come. In fact this summer was a very special summer for my family, as many things have changed. As well I saw that I haven’t spend to much time with my wife. So, the last weekend we decided to let the children home, only take the dog and go for two day trips. In fact we are quite lucky as we live not far away from the alps (60-90 minutes drive). What we like most are lakes in the mountains. The attract us always, as you can see the power of nature.

In fact I did jump up on the tower only for making some pictures, while we did fully relaxed in at a pasture in the mountains. Normally the milk is very good there, but there is as well available some beer and always cheese, meat and sausage…
Jauseplatte / snack plate…
In fact I would never eat this at home, but when going to the alps I nearly always need this kind of food. It has a special taste in this moment. In fact we did spend at the pasture several hours only talking and the people who do know me, that it is quite often difficult for me to sit a long period. We did small two small tours around the pasture to a waterfall and to one viewpoint.
When coming back to the lake we did only observe the thinks moving around us on a bank and also have had a deeper look on the historical train.
It was a fantastic trip to the Achensee in Austria https://goo.gl/maps/H283KfDUwneW1xNZ8 while we were not very active. I really would advise you, if you have the chance to go to Austria, Achensee is really beautiful.
The next morning we again drove to the mountains, while there was a big traffic jam. This made us leave the highway and suddenly I remember a friend who told me that we should visit one of the biggest German moor/ bog. I know people who are not aware how beautiful a moor can be. It is the opposite of a desert, it is really a very special ecosystem.
We did a long walk around the Murnauer Moos https://goo.gl/maps/RBJFMhmVqGj4iPJS7 and believe me, the atmosphere is a match of calming, exciting, fascinating, thought-provoking, feel of danger…
Mostly I was surprised about the fact, that this is a place where thousands of small animals, insects and flowers do have there home. As well, you could feel in the bog how small we as people are and what a present we got to be here on the world.
So, a very emotional weekend with a lot of impressions is behind me and really, if you visiting the South of Bavaria and the North of Austria both places are very nice to visit without being a mountain specialist.
