I’ve seen my overall points drop by over a thousand in the last week or so. All of my questions answered and other feedback types has gone back to zero. Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else? I’m not too keen on spending time answering questions and providing insight if it’s just going to get deleted so looking to understand what is going on.

Sorry for your loss of points.
Please visit this link and make sure that you have selected “Keeping activity until you delete it manually”.
Otherwise, you will keep losing points from answers given by you when they get deleted automatically by Google.
This should solve your problem in the future. Sorry, there is no way to recover the points you already lost.

Thanks for feedback, it’s odd that only a small portion of things I post are considered activity and impacted by this. Seems my reviews and all other forms of feedback should be impacted by this as well.
Google if your listening fix your retention options, let me keep maps contributions but purge search or assistant recordings etc. After all the maps data helps you so you want to keep it.

It would be really helpful if you would use the tagging tool when replying to someone here on Connect. Type @ followed by the username. Type slowly. Then we get an e-mail notification and you are more likely to get a prompt reply.
I believe Google implemented this in response to increases in privacy protection. But you are right. At least there should be a warning to active local guides posted next to this setting.
