Udaipur Rajasthan is a place of great importance in world tourism. It was built by gypsies in 1362 during the reign of Maharana Lakha. It’s a fresh water artificial lake having an area of about 12 square kilometres with varying depths. Aravalli mountain range feed the Lake through a stream during rain, situated close to the village Picholi.
Lake Pichola attracted Maharana Udai Singh by its charming and fascinating beauty, and he established the city of Udaipur. It was enlarged by a stone masonry dam construction. Several ornamental arch bridges were built to span the waterway between the banks.
Lake’s surroundings and small Islands within the lakes were developed and several bathing ghats, palaces, marble temples, family mansions etc like Lake Palace, Jag Mandir, Mohan Mandir etc including a bird sanctuary were built on Islands and the major tourist attraction City Palace is situated at Bansi Ghat on a hillock.
