I enjoy the fascinating look on people’s faces each time I mention that I’m based in Lagos, Nigeria; I love how their eyes brighten with interest when I mention it to visitors in Lagos for the first time. Yes, living in Lagos is one heck a life, but what is more fun is the amazing balance when you loosen up a bit to the whims of the city!
Many people have described Lagos in various ways; mostly from the aspect of the hustle, one of which I love is the poem (extracts) below titled “Lagos”
Lagos drags herself to work
She wakes and she burns
Sleep-drunk her belly churns
With footfalls on her tired backFumes rage from cars and trucks
Chimes in traffic hiccup
After rainfall her guts brim up
With clouds of dust and heatTraders sell from window shops
Hawkers shout their goods and wares
In the bustle no one cares
As Lagos buries her face in the dinMoneymakers march around
With gaping holes in their smiles
Waiting quotes from a thousand miles
Like eager miners of coalBlack beauties stroll past night clubs
Delicate bronze bodies in brocades
Outlines like silhouettes of sunshade
Waiting for Lagos` filial embraceLagos drags herself to sleep
She sleeps but she burns
In perpetual mirth she churns

The hustle, however, isn’t all that inspires me; the blend of people, the possibility of a taste of the world, and it’s unveiled beauty in the shadows of the night, inspires me as a local guide. If you haven’t witnessed Lagos Nightlife; the distant music playing, the beautifully lit streets and buildings, housing the most interesting fun spots. The Lounges, bars, Night clubs and sit outs in Lagos contributes to the breathtaking Nightlife you must experience.
