Lagos Safety Project 2.0

Lagos Safety Project 2.0

University Of Lagos

University Of Lagos, Lagos, Nigeria

August 31, 2019 @ 10:00 (WAT)

It’s yet again another edition of the Safety Tour in Lagos, an offshoot of the “Share in Our Environment” series which focuses on volunteer activities aimed at giving back to the community through advocacy to create a sense of environmental awareness among people in our local communities. This series includes a couple of activities such as clean-ups, road safety sensitizations, visits to selected enterprises with exceptionally positive impacts, local underprivileged communities and selfless in-kind donations. For this meetup, we shall be installing street signs denoting pedestrian crossings and speed limits within the road network of the University of Lagos to minimize the rate of overspeeding and ease pedestrian movements. This is a free and voluntary project and everyone is welcome to partake in the installations. FYI: Local Guides are doing this. This is to show that Local Guides go above and beyond in helping their immediate communities. We shall also have a session to tour the University and terminate the meetup at the Botanical Garden adjacent to the Lagoon front. We shall begin at the Dan Fodio Boulevard and end installations at DLI Road. Cameras, smartphones and any Local Guides shirt are highly welcome. I look forward to seeing you at the meetup.

Hi @Mayford ,

Thanks for bringing this initiative to our attention and for hosting this meet-up for the Local Guides in Nigeria. I think that adding the road safety sensitizations would definitely help to lower the incidents on the roads and will make it easier for the pedestrians as well as the drivers. Good luck to all participants and I can’t wait to see the outcomes from your meeting!
