Lamayaru - Terrain of Moonland Moon.
Leaving Kargil from 6am to head to Leh, the place is revered as a paradise with a lot of experience here. Passing the highest pass of Srinaga - Fatu La stage, 4100m high, we arrived at Lamayuru temple, commonly known as the moon (moonland). The oldest temple in Ladakh region, in the 10th century, a monk named Mahasiddhacharya Naropa laid the foundation stone of this monastery. It is believed that his prayers dried up a lake and because of the receding water, this place began to have craters like the moon. It is also believed that the area will once again be flooded in the future and a monastery will sprout from the bottom of the valley to eventually become one of the most important Buddhist centers in the region.
Thank you for sharing your post with us. Is it difficult to reach this place? What impressed you the most? The first and second photo it indeed looks like the moon land we usually see in the movies.
