Long Weekend trip to Little Desert National Park and Grampians
The photos will tell the story of a Great weekend and the places we could visit so spoiled!
As per usual we start our trip at the Victoria Hotel Dimboola - Local Pub. This is essential to make sure you get up to date information about local conditions like fires, floods, local access to roads etc. Always a bonus to meet the locals as country Hotels make you feel right at home as soon as you walk in
The inside of the Pub in Dimboola makes you feel as if you’re going back into history with some of the old antique furniture and paintings on the walls. They try to keep all in it’s original condition.
Now we get out on the road for what we came here for some 4x4 drivingWe get stuck into it early the next morning and head out on some tracks in the Little Desert National Park
What a beauty to be so close to nature. Some of these places are only accessible via 4x4 tracks due to very thick sand
We have arrived at a dry Salt Lake, you can see some very brave men have tried to drive in there. This is not advised. As you walk in there you can hear the salt crystals crack under your feet. Amazing experience
After a long day’s Driving we decided to head back to camp to watch the sunset and make dinner over the fire.Nothing taste better than food cooked over a open fire. There is always lost of laughs and the best stories come out late at night
The next morning we have decided to do a quick trip into the Western part of the Grampians National Park
As we enter the park and go off the main tarred roads it is time to let the tires down and hit the 4x4 tracks
This area was a big contrast to the area we have explored the day before that was so dry . After a few hours driving we arrived a t a Lake
Well deserved resting place to have some lunch and enjoy the view. The advantage to go offroad is that you miss the crowds of people
Some steep tracks as you can see below will always guarantee you a good photo opportunity. We where not disappointed. Although it was overcast it was still a beautiful view from the top
Arrived back at Camp on Dimboola to spend our last night at the Campfire. This was a great night with clear skies, ideal for stargazing! We all need a trip like this to get out a bit and recharge.
Most of the places we have visited had no mobile coverage on any of the major carriers
Makes you forget about all our worries!
I cant wait for the next trip!
