The La Quinta Inn & Suites in Orlando is by far the best hotel I have stayed in the US.
It was a reluctant choice since the top tourist destination Kennedy Space Center was located far from the city center with no known public transport.
That could have help me stay in a ‘hostel’ in Downtown Orlando.
I booked a couple of months in advance and got a great deal.
The day I arrived could not take my eyes off the marvelous exterior of the building.
The portico is lavish, and the entrance was clearly accessible for a wheelchair bound person.
The parking was accessible too though I did not notice any reserved slot for the differently abled from the ground level and nor from my room window.
The front desk was wide and spacious though the service staff normally stayed indoors and would show up only on request.
There was no service bell, so people just waked inside from the entrance on the right to get their attention.
Opposite the front desk was a spacious lobby with a super large LED TV and comfortable sofa sets.
Alert: The sofa is very soft and sinks in. I could not get back on my feet easily
I also had a quick glimpse of the back side of the hotel and found that it was a peaceful and secluded space.
I decided to return here to soak in the calmness of nature but could never.
The stay was short and there were too many places to visit in sunny Orlando.
Inside the room, the beds were super comfy with night lamps having switches located conveniently.
The regular stuff like table, chairs, LED TV, intercom, dustbin were present.
Also, a coffee machine with complimentary coffee, creamer and sugar packets was provided.
The washroom was a bit retro but in tiptop condition and a treat to the eyes.
There were abundant soaps, body wash, and shampoos of various types with plentiful towels in different shapes and sizes.
A wardrobe for hanging clothes was provided but I never used it.
I took a stroll outside the hotel in the evening and found that the sidewalks or footpath were neatly leveled with the front yard of the hotel.
I went around to the ICON Park to check the pickup point for the tour bus to the Kennedy Space Center scheduled next day morning and found that there were also free polythene bags for dog poop clean up.
The best part of the hotel that makes it my favorite was the super lavish complimentary breakfast that started at 7 am.
I was spoilt for choices with a spread of muffins, bagels, fruits, and flavored yogurt.
Waffles could be made fresh though I did not know how to operate the maker.
A variety of coffee and creamers in flavors like vanilla and almond were also available.
I relished the cornflakes and fruit loops soaked in cold milk.
This is my all-time favorite since it provides the much-needed energy for a day long tour that follows.
The seating arrangement consisted of cushioned chairs and big tables that helped enjoying the breakfast to the fullest.
Adjacent to the breakfast area is the concierge which is a travel desk.
They also help with theatre booking and restaurant reservations.
Accessibility Features
I found that besides the main entrance and the parking, the washroom was also accessible.
Hip Tip: Note the water fountain near the washroom - that dispenses mineral water saving me money purchasing water bottles.
Fortunately, in the US, water and washrooms are still free unlike in Germany where I paid a Euro just to take a leak
The hotel is 7 storied and the elevators and also the buttons are accessible for a wheelchair bound person.
Orlando Tourist Places
Of these, I only visited the Universal Studio free exhibits.
The top place to visit in Orlando was yet to come - The Kennedy Space Center.
