This meet-up is part of the “La Dolce Vita 2022” meet-ups series
La Porta dell’Acqua (The water door), is the place where the water comes out of the subsoil to become part of our lives. This is where we started from.
If every story, every tale, every experience always starts from the beginning, I think there can be no better start than starting from a source.
The appointment was at 11 in the morning on Saturday 12 November, and there were those who had to leave before dawn to get there in time.
The program provided for (weather permitting) to meet at the Porta Dell’Acqua, park the cars and walk up to the Gran Bosco Dei Fontanassi, the natural oasis where the springs are more numerous, to then go back and have a picnic in the middle of the woods.
The weather conditions favored us (some say that the credit is all due to Paolo, the man of the sun) and we were able to carry out our walk in absolute tranquility.
In a few minutes of easy walking we reached Gran Bosco dei Fontanassi. Fontanasso, in the Veneto dialect, is the name given to the springs of the plains, where the water gushes directly from the earth.
Sadly some of the boardwalks were under maintenance so we had to take an alternative route, but we still got to see a lot of the place, including the big old oak tree, peat bog and bird spot.
If you want to see more, this is a video of the place I made four years ago.
I am very fond of that area, which was one of the sets where I filmed my application for Connect Live 2019. So it was with great pleasure that I wanted to include the visit in our series of meet-ups.
On the return walk, as we were about to reach the picnic site, a famous guest joined us for a few minutes: @TravellerG , in an online link from India. Well, I have to tell the truth, it was nice to be able to have people connected online, I think this is an experience that we will need to explore in the future. Thank you TG for reaching out to us.
But it was just before the picnic that we had the biggest surprise: What is it?, I’ll show you
I don’t know how many hours Patty worked to prepare this wonderful Neapolitan pastiera, beautifully decorated to celebrate the event and our community. But I can tell you, as beautiful as it was, the taste was even better. A fantastic dessert. Thanks Patty.
For lunch we divided the tasks: Giorgio brought the bread, Antonella and I local salami and Alpago cheeses, Luigi the fried pasta.
Before starting, we uncorked a bottle of Treviso sparkling wine known throughout the world: Prosecco
A note for the environment: we ate lunch using biodegradable plates and glasses, and when we finished we cleaned the whole area. Well done
Then we parted, to give time for those staying for the night to reach the hotel, before meeting again for what was the heart of the event: La Dolce Vita (Wine) Meet-up 2022
