In the North-West of Russia, along the Baltic sea, between Kaliningrad and the Lithuanian Klaipeda, stretches a narrow sand spit, which is considered one of the most unique places in Europe. The Curonian spit is a natural reserve that represents several worlds in miniature. Scientists call it the “Museum of natural areas”, so diverse landscapes here: from birch forests to sandy deserts. And all this on a narrow ribbon of the earth (in the widest place the spit reaches 3,8 kilometers, and in the narrowest — only 400 meters). But the length of this spit is 98 kilometers, and a little less than half passes through the Russian territory. Next — the border post and the Lithuanian border. But it is very difficult to drive along this road without stopping for at least an hour, or maybe even a day or two. Literally every kilometer offers a new view: deciduous and coniferous forests, endless bird markets and sand dunes.
