Kolkata heritage river cruise - A great initiative from government of West Bengal

A great initiative has been taken from the Government of West Bengal. To showcase the heritage of the historical city Kolkata a special heritage river cruise has been started for quite some time. The cruise starts from B.B.D. Bagh jetty in Kolkata and shows several historical sites in an 1.30 hr boat ride and then ends in B.B.D. Bagh.It shows several historical places like The Howrah Bridge, Howrah Station, Jagannath Ghat, The cremation place of Rabindranath Tagore and Iswar Chandra Vidyasagar, The evergreen Eden Gardens, Kolkata High court, Vidyasagar Setu(Bridge), Princep Ghat and many others. Melodious Rabindra Sangeet will accompany you throughout the journey and when the cruise passes a historical place the volume of the songs kept low so that the guide can tell you about the historical significance of that place. If you want to relax and just want to take in some pure air or if you are just a history buff who wants to more about this historical city, this ride is for you. A pleasant 1.30 hrs ride with the beauty of Bengal and the City of Joy in the background.

Hello @Soumyajyoti ,

Thank you for sharing these beautiful photos with us, the area looks incredible! Is the ticket price for locals and tourists the same? Was this your first time there?

I remember being on a similar cruise during my visit to Istanbul. Such an amazing moment on the Bosphorus!

Fell free to edit your post and add the Google Maps location of the place from where the cruise starts. By doing so, other Local Guides will visualize better where it is located.

You can edit your publication following the helpful instructions that you will find here: Edit your post - Why and How To.

I am going to move your post to the Travel section on Connect, the place where Local Guides share details about their trips along with great photos.

Thank you for the details @Soumyajyoti , that’s good to know!

Sometimes, in some countries, places like restaurants, museums and other attractions are much more expensive for tourists!

@BorrisS Yes, there are many places in India also where fares differ for locals and foreign tourists. This one is an exception.
