Kokan area is the coastal area of Maharashtra which start from Mumbai and reaches till Goa and further till Kanyakumari the end of southern part of India. It further reaches till Kolkatta the eastern apart of India. Since I stay in Pune the closes area is Kokan to us which is merely 210 kms starting from Alibag, kashid, Murud, Janjira, Karde, dapoli, Ratnagiri. This is our most favorite weekend destination.
The beaches are long, clean and mostly lonely almost like virgin beaches. The area is still not commmercialised as such the rates are economical and you get stay at affordable rates. Most of the hotels are situation besides the beach giving the view of beach from your balcony. The area Karde beach in dapoli has 5 kms of long streach just opposite beach and you get a scenic view through out the year.
You can buy fish from local market of Harnai or dapoli and get it cooked in Hotel as per your likings. Yu get authentic home made food in all the hotels and some people offer home sty as well. There are no beach shaks or hotels as such the beaches are clean and beautiful.
You get to see the Ladghar , Karde, Murud, Anjarle all beaches in a row. You get to see Dolphin ride in early morning till 9 am then followed by Water sports, Jet ski, para sailing and all. You can also get a helicopter ride on ocassions @INR 3850 per person.
