So I was googling a street food place nearby and stumbled upon this place approx.45 min from my hometown. The name and Logo has caught our attention so I took 2 of my best friends and we went on our way to our destination: Koh Munchies.
Upon arrival I felt like I was back in Thailand for a second. First thing I noticed, was the smell of Thai-food mixed with a little jungle-ish scent which I found quite interesting. As i looked around I admired the artful wall design which was absolutely stunning and very detailed. The manager explained to me that it was made by a popular Graffiti Artist from the area. There was also a wall projection with a Beamer that was showing beautiful Drone footage of various beautiful Beaches and Landscapes around the world, which some of them I have already experienced. This immediately made me feel comfortable…
As we sat down and asked for the menu, the manager explained that they don´t have forks or knives and that everything can be eaten with a spoon or with hands which I found quite fascinating. Subsequently I ordered an iced tea some of the best red Thai Curry’s I actually ever had. It was quite spicy but the melon and salad on the side helped me not spit fire.
The waitress was very supportive and offered us tissues and a glass of milk as she saw our foreheads sweating and noses running. After the generous meal I fell into a small food coma and we chilled a little bit. I noticed that the other guests were mostly talking English, even though we were in the middle of the Ruhrpott area in Germany (where this is quite uncommon). That is probably cause the restaurant is located next to an international university.
All in all this was one of my favorite food experiences in Germany so I thought I´d share it. If you have the possibility you should definitely check this place out!
