I aspire to be a teacher. I work as a volunteer teacher now. For me, knowledge sharing is important. Being a local guide is about giving an honest review of a place. Thus, it helps me to pass on that knowledge which I have experienced. By honest I mean, carefully writing goods and bads and adding one specific feature that is important for me and others should know. Being in north eastern India since last 4+ years has given me immense opportunity to explore the culture of this place. NE India for a long time was an unknown territory for rest of the India. The popularity of this part has increased in last few years. People mostly visit popular places like Shillong, Cherrapunji, Gangtok etc. But there are places which are hidden in the wilderness and waiting to be explored. Last year, we went to a part of Assam with very little information available online. In today’s world information is power and for me, sharing is caring. So, Local guides is a platform for me where I can utilize the caring part of my personality. My passion so far is to share at least one key information which is usually missed by other people. So far I have visited almost 20 states of India and I have so much to tell. I try to find about local culture and had experienced amazing hospitality from locals. In a trip to Diphu in Assam, I was hosted by locals and had most amazing local Karbi (Karbi is a local tribe) food. On another trip to Havelock, Andamans, I visited a local fair and learned so much about the place. I usually plan to write a detailed blog based on my experiences but amidst work pressure, it is never executed. We humans have the capability to learn from past experiences of others. And that gives us an edge over other species on this planet. For me, local guides is a platform to share my knowledge in few sentences.
