Hi, I’m Guillermo, proudly from Oaxaca, Google Maps helped me locate myself, find directions, follow route to many destinations, find other routes, even locate the cardinal points. Therefore, I discovered I could see the places I visited and rate them with stars or answer questions about the services offered by these places I visited while sharing comments and photos and that with it I was gaining points; At first I thought it was funny and as I like the collaborative software culture I found it very interesting and that fascinated me; Now Google maps and local guide is one of the apps that I use and interacte with more than twice during the day.
The way I use the app has been transformed as the app itself; at the beginning I only answered questionnaires and rated with stars; Then I began to add more elaborate comments and saw how far I was from getting to the moon or how many cities I had visited in a month or a year. Then I wanted to overcome my own records of visits to places and get closer to the moon, while I discovered the rules of how to get more points by sharing videos, adding new places and so on; so I was achieving the challenges that the app presented to me to move to a higher level as a Local Guide, it was then I got captivated. Currently, I have the desire to know, visit and be at the largest number of archaeological sites in my state, country, continent and on the planet, so, to begin with, I am adding a list of all the archaeological zones that I visit and that I am knowing that there are in my state; this with the purpose that others know all the archaeological zones that Oaxaca has to offer and also as a digital way of doing a blog of visits adding photos, videos, comments and other things.
Oaxaca is a beautiful place, with a lot of culture, enigmatic places, majestic monuments, endearing traditions, exquisite gastronomy, natural attractions and cosmopolitan that help to contribute in Local Guide for visitors to improve their stay and for the locals to have a virtual space of identity and collaboration to develop our community.
Altogether Local Guide is like a diary of travel routes, of everyday things, of points to visit, of reminders, of good places or places that can improve, of beautiful sites that are not visible; like a game of knowing places and making points, like a social network to spread interesting photos, elaborate comments, somehow as a digital tattoo of social commentaries. Local Guide is a way to remember me by and to achieve the goals that I am committed to. Overall, a space to help me and to help others.
