Haors are usually built to prevent flooding and as a result those areas become lowland. During the monsoon, the haors are flooded and submerged for several months of the year. There are several such haors in riverine Bangladesh. Most of it is located in the northeastern part of Bangladesh and Kishoreganj is one of these cities.
As these haors have contributed to the driving force of the country, on the other had, these haors have created a life story of many people. The stories of these people who are living here, are much different than those of other people. The people of this region are more affected by the three seasons, as - winter, summer and monsoon.
In summer, all of these people are busy sowing crops. But, in winter, people become home centered. At that time, when you look around there is only water and water. Boats and engine-driven steamers were then the only means of communication systems. This is the time when people make a living by collecting fish.
But nowadays, this wonderful form of nature is attracting the city’s people a lot more. Besides, the newly constructed long roads are very helpful to the local people for communication. And, lots of cycle and bike riders are coming here to explore this road also.
