[Kimberly's Tokyo Hanami Trip🌸] #06 Sumida River Cruise🚤 and Bay area of diversity "Daiba City"🏙

Japan lover @KimberlyAnnG, Take a boat south of the most famous Sumida River in Tokyo🚤!

Luckily, she watched the full bloom cherry blossoms, which lasted only a week in a year, from the water bus:cherry_blossom::speedboat:! This water bus can travel from Asakusa in the north to Odaiba in the south while going around a row of cherry blossom trees along the river in several places. It is cheap at 1500 yen for its attractive cruise😃!

The mysterious building of the beer company that the Japanese thinks crazy is an image of the beer in the mug and the Olympic torch:beer::fire::sweat_smile:. Please watch the video, Tokyo Skytree will be on the building! If you look at this, it is said that the luck of money will go up:dollar::heart_eyes:.

Pass under the bridge so low😮. Especially when high tide is exciting!!

The Tsukiji market ruins also pass. The world’s largest fish trading took place on this very small site🐟.

Change the ship on the way, We arrived at Odaiba City of "Diversity":cityscape:. This is the sea that Perry of the US has visited, and it is an island with a huge landfill. “Daiba” means a platform on which cannons are installed to block the arrival of foreign ships. It’s the opposite of diversity! Odaiba’s “O” is a honorific of Japanese. In addition did you know? In fact, half of Tokyo’s central area is a land that has been filled up to handle Edo period trash♻!!

In Odaiba there is the museum of Japan’s largest automobile company. Admission is free🚗. @KimberlyAnnG seems to be interested in hydrogen cars, AI autonomous vehicles, compact mobility and wheelchair cars😃. And above all, she likes Japan’s original “Light Car” and cars with high ceilings! The very same feeling as Japanese😆! She was also seriously calculating the price🤣!

There is also a corner that reproduces the classic car and the Japanese cityscape of the 1960s:red_car:. Many classic cars such as the oldest Japanese sedan and old Porsche are displayed so close:police_car::smiley:.

There are also 1/1 size Gundam in Odaiba🤖!

And you can eat the “Ultimate Oyakodon🐔”. Oyakodon is one of the bowl of rice that Japanese people like to put chicken and half-boiled eggs on top of rice. In general there is richness and sweetness. I met the most delicious oyakodon currently😋!

At night we looked at central Tokyo from the tallest Tokyo Sky Tree in Japan. The observation deck is 350 meters above the ground, and you can see the whole of Tokyo and Mt. Fuji⛰. In fact, this tower with a truss structure is made by utilizing Japan’s unique craft technology. Slightly twisted to increase the strength, as it is utilizing the traditional Japanese design as it is!

Well, tomorrow is the last day of her trip to Japan🗾

WOW!!! This was a very full day, as was every one of the days I spent in Japan! So much to see, do and eat!!! So little time. We did an admirable job of it despite the shortness of my visit!

And those new Toyota s!!! I love the colors they’re available in, many models not available in the US. The accessibility vehicles are nothing short of a miracle to see so affordable. Thanks to subsidization from the Japanese government, many more people can easily travel by car when needed! I have video and will share it in a post.

Japan’s degree of public accessibility is more visible and far ahead of the US. Not perfect but much better. There are still areas to work on such as Mapping the elevator entrances for different platforms for the train stations. I ended up dragging two 40 pound suitcases down 5 flights of stairs to reach the correct platform on the way to the airport. I circled the intersection for 45 minutes looking for the entrance. I found signage stating there was one, around the corner. and I did find it’s location once I’d come down the stairs. If’ I’d been in a wheelchair, I’d have missed my plane.

Thank you @helga19

Video is indispensable for cruise🎥. As this cruise crosses the important waterways in Tokyo in the past, it is an experience that I would recommend during sightseeing! Very cheap😁!

Hi @KimberlyAnnG

Were you surprised at how small the Japanese standard Toyota is? Conversely, we are drowned in a large, spacious room in the US😂! As you say, the basement of Tokyo is so complicated that even local people are confused. I need information on the elevator in the corner of the labyrinth🤔

One of the most important things I learned from @YasumiKikuchi is that, contrary to American’s belief, Japan is NOT an expensive place to take a trip! Quite opposite, with some good Lists from experts like Yasumi, you can easily eat food that is VERY CHEAP and yet still very good quality. What Yasumi would call Medium quality in a fast Japanese Soba shop, I would call Good at the least! We shared a bowl for breakfast one day.

This beautiful bowl of Soba Noodles!

450 yen = $4.03 US and we shared it!

@YasumiKikuchi YES! I will add it to my places in need of correction. I have looked on Maps and there doesn’t seem to be a location for the Elevator entrances. There are signs but the ones for the one to access the Toei line traveling to Narita was invisible to me. I saw the sign on the building at the entrance with stairs but I followed it and found nothing. I just kept thinking, what if I were in a wheelchair?!!! In the end, I dragged my two heavy bags down the stairs. Quite the sight, I’m sure. A gallant stranger from France came to my aid on the fourth set of stairs. LOL! We had a good laugh

Here’s a screen shot of the location I’m referring to.

Once I was down the stairs and to the platform, I saw the elevator. It seems to be somewhere over by Matsuya. If there is a way to create a location marker for the street level entrance for this and any other transit elevators, it would be immensely helpful!!! Like the entrance we used every day, walking past the beautiful golden Festival arks.

Hi @KimberlyAnnG

There were a lot of cheap chain shops that I really wanted you to try. You can eat a delicious meal for around $ 5 every day:yum:! But before that, I wanted you to try traditional Japanese food:rice_ball:. One week was too short for all experiences. I hope you will come again:pray:. The next theme is "Cheap trip"!

By the way, this also has a cultural background. Japan has had a disappointing tendency to drive out vulnerable groups and minorities. That’s why the old facility elevator is purposely placed in a hard to use place. Although the new facilities have been improved, it seems that Tokyo traffic can not be improved immediately because it is old. So what can we do? I tell as much as I can in pictures and reviews, but the fastest way is for Google to add accessibility features.

@YasumiKikuchi Google Maps can help reverse this old policy that the Japanese people no longer believe in! Adding accessibility information would help everyone from the traveler with too many purchases to the more vulnerable for whom an elevator is a necessity. We all win!

And YES!!! We need to do the Cheap & Deep Japan Trip!!! Challenge ourselves to see how much fun we could have on little money. I bet we’d have a really good time!

Please come again @KimberlyAnnG !

Traveling around the chain shop is very easy. In particular, the method works powerfully in Kyoto where prices are the same as San Francisco😆!
