my twin sister and I decided to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro this past November. The mountain is about 6000 meters high. We trek for 7 days. 5 days up and 2 days down. We took the Rongai Route. And yes, we summitted. I had never climb a mountain before. I did alot of cardio, running and stairmaster. I also went hiking eventhoueve Florida has no elevation. To ensure that I completed the climb, I started taking altitude sickness pills a day before we began trekking. It was an amazing experience! Minus the altitude sickness lol. Tanzania is rich and a beautiful country! I had never felt so welcomed from any other places that I visited. The people are so nice and so welcoming! More to come
@Kainajacque Wow, you are so cool. Was there any snow on the top? Thank you for sharing your experience with us.
Hi @Kainajacque you have shared amazing pictures.
Do you have plans to visit mountains in other countries?
Or this was your first and last experience?
Wow! I love your photos! Thanks for sharing @Kainajacque
Hi @Kainajacque ,
Wow that looks amazing! It must’ve been a great experience! Was this your first time going to Tanzania? I can’t believe you actually climbed it being your first time! 6000 meters is high. My highest has been 3000 meters and I thought that was hard.
Did you have time to visit other places there or was this only for the mountains?
Nevertheless, the views are stunning!
By the way, you can easily add photos if you forgot just by clicking edit on the left from your post.
@Ant_Bad_Yogi I know you would love to hike this mountain.
I guess it doesn’t snow in Tanzania but let me wait for @Kainajacque to explain.
@Austinelewex Oh, I looked back to the post again. The photo in comment section tells it that there is snow at the top.
Right? @Kainajacque
555 @Ant_Bad_Yogi I didn’t read the post to be frank.
I only read your comment.
So probably you’re very right @Ant_Bad_Yogi .
Now let me read the writeup dear. 555.

Yes, the day we summit, it was snowing and hailing. @Ant_Bad_Yogi
Thanks
Thank you so much! You can do it!
It only snows in the mountains in TZ. The other parts are usually hot and sometimes chilly in the evening during raining season
Hi @DanniS
Thank you for the tip!
No we also went to Zanzibar, and did a Safari in Ngorongoro, we went to Arusha, and mingled with with thetlocals in Dar Es Salaam. We were there for 25 days. It was amazing. I will post those pics later. We spent 5 days in Dubai and 25 days in TZ. It was absolutely amazing!
So i’ve run 2 marathons before, and when my sister brought the idea of climbing, I didn’t hesitate at all. Although we faced very different challenges. It took us 8:52 to reach the summit from the base of the mountain. Even though I was taking altitude medications, I still got sick. Not as bad as my twin though. She had climb Fuji which is 4000m and was more confident in her abilities than I. So she didn’t start taking the med till we got to 4300m, and she had debilitating headaches and vomiting. Regardless, we pressed on and made it to the top! Of course we had amazing guides! If it wasn’t for them we wouldn’t have made it. They sing for us, they encouraged us, they carried out day pack for us. The major problem would have been oxygen, and our oxygen levels were within normal range. Otherwise they would have turned us around, lol and I would just cry. But thank God that didn’t happen.
Please let this encourage you and not deter you from conquering Mt. Kilimanjaro. Because it will play tricks on you, but Mt. Kilimanjaro has nothing but love and amazing wonders! Thank you so much for the comment
