Kheerganga- The Realm of Heavens

It’s Better In The Mountains

Hi @BK_GAJENDRA ,

Thank you for sharing these great images with us!

The realm of heavens seems like a fitting caption for this place. The views look absolutely incredible. I could easily spend a week here in a tent all by myself.

Is this an easy place to access, and how do you even get there? Is it possible to go further up the mountain?

Finally you addressed my post. Thanks a lot @MortenSI . Yes, you can easily spend a week here. People are very friendly here. This is an easy place to acces but to reaching this point, you have to walk for 12 to 14 km from kalga Village. Trekking has to be started from kalga village to reach kheerganga very easily. Mostly from food to accommodations, everything is available in kalga village at a cheaper rate. No vehicle or transportation facility is directly available to kheerganga but you can go directly from Delhi airport or chandigarh airport to barshaini dam, kalga village. Then you can stay there as cottages available. Mostly foreigners staying here. Then you can start trekking from this place. Always prefer to go morning time as it will be taking 5 to 6 hours to reach kheerganga, which is on top above 10500 feet. Night time, you can feel the temperature of -7 degrees. This place is really beautiful.

I actually like how it takes 5-6 hours of hiking to reach the place @BK_GAJENDRA . It makes the view seem more like a reward when you finally arrive.

From the photos I guess you live in tents in Kheerganga. Are tents available for rent or do you have to bring everything yourself?

  • Only ways to reach there by walk from kalga village. It’s really really awesome to enjoy the nature at the time of trekking @MortenSI . You don’t have to carry tents as it will be provided by the local people at very affordable price, when you reach there. No need to carry anything apart from your own shoes, clothes, jacket etc. Breakfast, lunch, dinner will be available on top . Villagers are there to support in all ways from food to stay.

That sounds amazing @BK_GAJENDRA !

It makes it much easier for people to visit, even though they’re not dedicated hikers with all the necessary equipment for long term stay and cooking. It would be perfect for me.
